The poll ran through the month of August to determine how readers of this blog are fishing during the peak nearshore season. Because multiple activities could be chosen, the computed percentages are meaningless but if you look at the number of votes per activity, certain activities stand out.
93 participants were fishing for predators without the use of oama/halalu/sardines. Compared to the 64 participants who were fishing for predators using the oama/halalu/sardines. Almost all of fin bait users were using oama since 62 participants were fishing for oama, whereas only 20 were fishing for halalu.
81 participants were whipping. 14 of those participants were whipping the Waxwing.
I don’t think this reflects how the general fishing public in Hawaii fishes. It’s more a reflection of the fishers who read the whipping and oama trolling and oama fishing posts contained within.
