Much Mahalo!

Japan has 3 currents that meet that brings many different fish. Oyashio (Siberia current) from north, kuroshio (black current) from Philippine, Tsushima current from Okinawa.
This summer high water temperature surrounded Honshu( main land) as high as Okinawa. Bigger fish are gone. They went to far north or deeper. I saw big bait balls but not much target fish. Northern Japan like Chiba water was very warm that I surfed without wet suit. It effected commercial fishing as well. Many kind fish are less this year on market. And hurricanes are powerful by hot steam from warm water. Japan broke the record of temperature this summer up to 111.4F. Trump thinks global warming is bullshit? He must dislike seafood.

Hi Haru,
Interesting to hear how the climate changed this summer in other fishing locations, but I’m was sad to hear how the higher air temps made it unbearable for those without a/c in Japan, and how the ocean temps have pushed out the normal fish for this season. The not so strong El Nino ended this spring for us in HI and we’ve since had less rain and slightly cooler land and air temps. How does the El Nino affect Japan normally?
