Papio action heating up

Ewa Beach kayak papio

Ewa Beach kayak papio

Been hearing that the papio bite is taking off on the West side and East side.  Alan trolled curl tails and hoochies (small squid skirts) from his kayak off the shallow reef dropoff for his best day so far.  The omilu he’s holding weighed in at 6.75lbs.  Now that’s a big omilu!

My buddies and I are still trying to find the hungry omilus on the South shore.  Maybe we gotta go deeper?

Thanks for the report Alan!

Went down to Haleiwa harbor to try to catch oama. Cudas were scaring them all away and none were biting. Some folks were baitcasting oama and caught some nice sized lai and papio in the harbor… wish I had oama lol

    Hey Pono,
I checked one of my south shore spots again, been checking for a month. No oama still but the on shore Waxwing action was red hot. Tired looking for oama…
