Description

IMA makes a 98mm iBorn that casts really well, dives shallow with a tight wobble and a huge following but at 13gms, it really doesn’t have the weight to bomb to the edge of the reef.  IMA finally came out with a 118mm version of the iBorn that weighs 19gms and utilizes IMA’s groundbreaking Magnetic Rebound Driving system.  An internal cylindrical sliding weight is capped with magnets on both ends.  On the cast, the weight slides to the back to provide more mass, and at the end of the cast, a weight in the tail repels the sliding weight back into proper swimming position. A weight near the front of the lure attracts the sliding weight back and holds it in place until the next cast.  This is an improvement over the sliding ball system that required you to start the retrieve and get the lip to grab water before the lure had the right angle where the balls could roll forward and into position.

The iBorn 118F dives from 5 – 30 cm (1 foot) and has a nice, lifelike tight wobble.  It’s been slaying fish in Japan since being introduced last year and my JDM supplier passed on one in each of the 3 most popular colors for you guys to try.  If it sells well we’ll add more to the store.
