Did my Xcel surf booties save my life?

June 27, 2023 By Scott Leave a Comment

If you watch video below, you can see that I took my left foot out of the water and appear to have pushed the shark off with my Xcel split toe surf booties. Or did I? I have no memory of taking my foot out of the water so am just relying on what I see in the video. What do you think? Did the surf bootie kick save my life? Looks like I put my foot back in the water to avoid flipping over. Good thing the shark didn’t come back for another taste!

I started wearing the Xcel split toe booties to walk into the water to surfboard fish. At 1mm, they are thin, fit the foot nicely, and provide a bit of protection from the reef.
